Say Hello to Farm Fresh Meats!

In short, CSF Meats cannot be beat. They are rich, delicious, flavorful, and free from hormones, chemicals, by-products, additives, and preservatives. CSF’s animals are here on the farm year-round to offer high quality meats from a pasture-raised diet.

As you know, Jess the Farmer is very particular when it comes to the quality of her food. It may not always look perfect because CSF’s practices are focused on sustainable growing practices without inputs from outside sources, and in harmony with Nature.

Honestly, real food doesn’t usually look perfect, but real food is hearty and healthy all the way through. And that’s how our animals are raised, too.  They choose when they come indoors or stay outdoors. They are hearty and healthy and full of personality. They all have names, too. And although some folks may not want to know the name of the animals they are eating, Jess the Farmer believes its a ‘quality of life’ statement that the animals here at CSF live a high quality life. She not only wants to know them and how they are raised, but she believes they also deserve names to be called by with all the love and affection and attention they desire.

Does it make a difference?  We absolutely think so, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

At CSF, we have an inborn fondness and deep respect for our fellow animals who, along with our human helpers, complete our amazing farm crew. Together, we grow heirloom vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers, and we raise heritage breed animals for meats, eggs, milk, and so much more. We strive for a sustainable food system to nourish ourselves, nourish the land, and nourish our neighbors. And we love what we do.

When it comes to eating well, we on the farm know it’s a full-circle system that makes it all work. From our happy, well-fed animals we receive the gift of manure in all its various forms, which along with Nature’s gifts of leaves and grass clippings, food scraps from our table and other local places, repurposed newspapers, cardboard and other materials, we make the most lovely soil for our extensive gardens around the farm.

In this incredible soil, teeming with life, we are able to produce the most delicious crops, nutrient dense vegetables and greens, fruits, and fresh herbs, too.  Our garden scraps and plants grown for the sole purpose of feeding our animals, along with delicious local brewers grains, pastures of fresh grasses, our very own hay in Winter, all go to feeding our animals year-round. Because we eat what we grow and what we raise in this system, our inner biology matches that of our animals, and that of our gardens.  We truly are a full circle, full diet, full heart farm, and every year we work hard to bring new life to the fields, to grow more so we can feed our community, too!

You can find our farm fresh products in our Farm Stand, open every day of the year from dawn until dusk.  You can also find us with our products at the area farmers’ markets of East Haddam and Colchester, and on the farm for the Winter Harvest Farmers’ Market.
